Musk Creek chasing more success

Victoria’s Musk Creek Farm will take a draft of eight yearlings to January’s Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast that includes the progeny of Victorian stallions Written Tycoon, Brazen Beau and Toronado.

The team at Musk Creek will be hoping for a similar result to last year, aggregating more than $1.6 million from four yearlings sold out of the six that went through the ring.

Scott Williamson of Musk Creek Farm said that they are excited about the draft that they are taking to Queensland, with great results expected.

“We make sure that we take the right stock up to Magic Millions,” Williamson said.

Williamson touched on their four yearlings by Victorian stallions that have been accepted into the catalogue.

“The Written Tycoon / Sous la Terre colt is out of a very good family,” Williamson noted.

“He’s a colt with stallion potential and should interest a lot of people at the sale.

“The filly out of Mockery was actually bred by myself. She is the second foal from the mare and is just an outstanding type.

“She is everything you could hope for when you send a mare to the type of stallion that is Written Tycoon.

“Our Toronado filly out of Blackline, she is beautiful. Toronado is the next superstar who throws fillies and colts and we use him quite a lot.

“The colt by Brazen Beau is half-brother to Thedevilinher who Patrick Payne has. People are really going to like this colt when they see him as he’s really athletic.”

Lot 438, a colt out of Apologynotaccepted, is a half-relation to one of the team’s higher priced yearlings last year that sold to Lloyd Kennewell and Kia Ora for $550,000.

Williamson said that every foal that the mare has had, has been stacked with quality and this yearling is no exception.

“The colt last year was a big, strong, masculine horse,” Williamson said.

“This colt is a little more athletic and is a later foal which probably plays into that as well. He is just so well-proportioned and well put together.

“The mare produces tough animals and they seem love their work, thriving during their preparations.”

Musk Creek have also seen some recent success on the racetrack, owning shares in Blue Sapphire Stakes winner, Run Harry Run, and metro winners, Ain’tnodeeldun and Foujita San.

“Ain’tnodeeldun has been through the ringer, so it is good to see him back in the winner’s stall,” Williamson said.

“Run Harry Run arguably should be unbeaten in his first race prep. From a maiden at Kilmore to a Group 3 win at Caulfield, he has now been tipped out and is being aimed at an Australian Guineas.

“We have always known Foujita San has had the ability. It’s extremely pleasing to see him putting it all together and doing what we know he can do.
